NEUMANN (Novel Energy and propUlsion systeMs for Air domiNaNce) is a European Defence Fund (EDF) project focused on the development of next-generation energy and propulsion technologies for future air combat systems. Bringing together leading industries, SMEs, universities, and research centres across Europe, the project aims to advance innovative solutions in propulsion, power generation, thermal management, and energy integration, contributing to the competitiveness and technological sovereignty of the European defence sector.

In the project, coordinated by Avio Aero and involving 37 partners from 12 Member States, Morfo designed and subjected low-pressure turbine (LPT) transonic blade profiles to virtual testing using LES (Large Eddy Simulation) methods.

AESTETIC

AESTETIC is a project dedicated to innovation in the aeronautical sector through sustainable, efficient, and competitive High-Performance Computing (HPC) technologies and Artificial Intelligence. The objective is to evaluate the efficiency of next-generation RISC-V architectures by analyzing their performance, energy consumption, and computational capabilities. During the project, RISC-V platforms were compared with x86 and Arm systems using advanced benchmarking and analysis tools. Additionally, the project involved the creation of an FPGA testbed to study customizable hardware configurations and open-source processors.

ACROSS

The EU ACROSS project will codesign and develop an HPC, Big Data, AI convergent platform, supporting applications in the aeronautics, climate and weather, and energy domains. To this end, it will leverage on next generation of pre-exascale infrastructures, still being ready for exascale systems, and on effective mechanisms to easily describe and manage complex workflows in these three domains.
